Jake's Stats and Baking Championship

 Jake has his delayed 12 year dr. appointment today.  His Dr. happens to be the mother of one of his friends, and she could not believe the growth Jake's had during this pandemic!  Her son and Jake have always been similarly sized, truly two of the smallest kids in the class.  Well, Jake is now officially two inches taller than her son, and has moved from the 2-5 percentile in height up to 30%!!  

We had to pull out Josh's baby book from Lee to compare, as Jake has always been similar to Josh in growth patterns...until now.   With this crazy growth spurt, Jake is now 2.5 inches taller than Josh at age 12 (as well as 22 pounds heavier!).  

  

The kids have created this summer checklist to give us ideas of what to do.   Yesterday after camp, the kids came home and had a baking championship to start working through their list!

Let's see how many items we can check off by the end of summer!

Here Comes Summer Vacation!

 It's been a relaxing and enjoyable first few days of summer vacation!  

We broke out the old pandemic pool to beat the heat...it's got a ton of holes and therefore needs to be refilled with air multiple times in a day, but it still works!  

Addy and Colbie got to start summer with an epic play date with their besties:

While Jake and Mama tried out the new fancy movie theater.  Not only did we have the ENTIRE theater to ourselves, but the seats  RECLINE!  I may have nodded off for a few minutes, but it was a very fun experience. 

And today, all three kids started a week of golf camp!   The girls convinced a good friend to join them, and so off they went without complaint today.   The three girls got stuck in the same group with Jake and his four buddies which apparently wasn't as fun, as they had hoped to have "some space" from him...as I'm sure he did as well.  Oh well!  

Last Day of School!

 Phew- it's felt like a marathon getting here to the last day after the year that we've just all had!   But we made it, and the 3rd grade end of year celebration went well, and Jake's last zoom classes are complete- so HELLO SUMMER!!!

For the girls, the third grade teachers at their school convinced the Principal to allow for an actual celebration on campus, and even let the parents on campus for 10 minutes for a final parade for the students.  I got stuck organizing it, but it all worked out in the end and I think most everyone appreciated it!

We did it!!

Happy 12th Brithday Jake!

Yesterday our sweet Jake turned TWELVE years old!   According to Jake, this has been his "Best Birthday EVER" too!  Yesterday he woke up to gifts and donuts and then got to celebrate with family in person, this year.  We opted to break back into the public and go bowling for his family party this year, and it was such fun!   We went to Pinstripes which is a new, clean spot, and we got to finally witness the spectacular bowling skills of all of these grandparents.   Fun day!  

A note arrived just in time all the way from Morocco too! 

Today we took 6 of Jake's best buddies, all in our little pod, over to Half Moon Bay for some screen free hang out time!  It was a gorgeous day, without traffic or crowds, and 3.5 hours of beach football, spikeball and wave chasing resulted in his perfect day.  

To top off this big birthday weekend, Jake got his first vaccination shot as a newly minted twelve year old!   WAHOO!!
