My Little Gardeners

The girls and I headed down to the San Jose Discovery Museum today for some Friday fun today.   Most of the exhibits haven't changed since we last visited so the girls were kind of roaming around somewhat uninterested...until they stepped outside and found a random little kid garden.  I can not believe how long Colbie and Addison played in this garden- shoveling dirt from area to area, "re-planting" the plastic flowers, raking the leaves, sweeping the dirt.   They are officially obsessed with gardening now.  Two weeks ago I took them on an adventure to Home Depot (adventures can be anywhere you know!) and I let they each pick out seeds that we planted throughout our backyard.   The snap peas are really starting to sprout, and the girls run out and check on them every morning nowadays.   So I suppose I shouldn't be as surprised as I was to watch them just dig into the dirt for hours today, but I was!  Simple, easy fun!   I'm thinking we need to do some gardening this weekend!

These two had the time of the lives pushing their own shopping carts at Trader Joes afterwards too...

Zoo Day!

One of the amazing parts of being home this year is being able to pile into the car and head to the SF Zoo on a Monday!  It was totally empty, and the sun was out, and the girls were in really happy moods.   We wandered around for three hours before even the slightest sign of a whine or tear...which is a record these days let me tell ya!
The girls conquered their fear of petting the goats, and happily brushed them over and over.

Hysterical Team Picture

Get ready for a laugh.....check out Jake's basketball team picture!   Hysterical!   Josh insists that the picture people made him tuck in Jake's shirt and pull them up to his ears like a grandpa....oh boy.....

President's Day

Happy President's Day!  Jake has been talking about George Washington and Abraham Lincoln all week- thank you Mrs. Mecchi!   We had these fun treats today with President's faces on them.   Had a great day of jumpy house and park time.  Sunshine just brings out the happiness in us all!

Beach Day!

The weather has been absolutely unbelievable this weekend!!  Yesterday we packed everyone up and headed to the beach!   The weather was literally the most perfect we've ever experienced in Half Moon Bay- better than any summer day!   We all had such fun, and the lagoon was full of water- much safer and fun for the girls to splash around in.   We may just go back next weekend if this weather continues!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day friends and family!!   It's like Christmas here in our house with the excitement of this special day.  We hope that you all have a wonderful day with your families and loved ones!

Later:- What a joyful, exciting day we had here today!   This year I found these heart stockings on clearance sale after Christmas.  I figured what is a better way to deliver fun little gifts for Valentine's days than stockings- there is just something magical about digging into a stocking, no matter your age, right?  Furthermore, by hanging them up a week early, the kids could "deliver" little love notes to us and to each other throughout the week very easily.   So I gave it a try this year, and I'd certainly say it raised the excitement level by ten for this holiday.   Their stocking were mostly filled with art supplies, books, erasers and Shopkins (look them up if you don't know what they are- my kids are crazy about them).  But the excitement of digging into stockings literally lasted ALL day today- they continued to put everything back, and then take everything back out again over and over again.   Jake had a basketball game today, so we couldn't really head out for a big family outing today, so we hung out in the sunshine of our backyard for most of the afternoon.  It was a wonderful, mellow, relaxing family day.  After dinner BOTH sets of grandparents arrived bringing gifts...what lucky kids we have!  My parents stayed to babysit while Josh and I had a great and rare dinner out!  Thanks Mom and Dad!
So Happy Valentine's Day to you all.   We hope it was great and family filled!

Josh got the kids these crazy dipped apples for V-day- they were nearly as big as their heads, and they were exhausted of trying to eat them after about 5 bites...but funny to watch their first encounters with candy apples.

The girls were being especially cute together today- LOTS of hugs for everyone on this day of love!
