Trying to convince these girls to put their pjs on these days is a long process, and often includes horsey rides and cute cuddles like this.

We had more fun this weekend jumping in puddles:

Swimming

With summer fast approaching, we've put Jake back into weekly swim lessons.   While he still can't swim, he is getting more and more comfortable in the water.   We're hoping that someday soon he'll figure out the breathing thing and just start swimming!

First ER visit!!

Oh boy, what an exciting Sunday we had!   Little Ms. Colbie has now learned how to climb out of her crib, AHHH!!!   We've noticed her trying to get her leg over for a few days, but on Sunday we finally  heard the horrible crash of her actually making it all the way over and out- definitely one of the worst sounds any parent wants to hear.   So, she landed right on her left arm, and could not be calmed down for quite a bit of time.  We decided to take her to the ER to have them check it out (our children only get hurt or sick on Sundays by the way- the one day of the week that their pediatric doctor's office is closed, so typical!).  I took her alone, as you never know how long you have to wait in the fun ER waiting room.   Just getting Colbie in the car was terrible, as she was not only so upset about her arm, but she didn't want to go without her sister- big aha #1 for me.  When we got to the ER, I picked her up out of the car, and she immediately stopped crying.  She was totally silent during the entire check in and waiting room process, and just wanted to snuggle up to Mama as close as possible.   When we finally were seen almost 2 hours later, she didn't make a peep when the doctor touched, squeezed, turned her arm, as long as I was holding her.   The Dr. advised that it was likely just a bruised wrist or sprain, but to watch it over the next few days.   #2 Aha- Colbie was incredibly happy having 1 on 1 time with Mama, so much so that she didn't even complain about whatever pain she was in.
Mama's big take aways- it's time to make a better effort of getting 1 on 1 time with each individual child.  Jake gets plenty, but the girls rarely do, as they always seems to want to be together.  Bad on me for not making this effort earlier, but now I know.  Somehow, try, try, try to have special time alone with each child often.   Colbie is doing ok today- although she still expresses pain when she leans on her arm a certain way.  Crossing our fingers that we won't be taking her back to the dr. later this week.   And crossing our fingers that the fall scared her enough to not try it again- as we're not ready to put them in big girl beds yet!!!

St. Patrick's Day!

A new tradition has been born in our home, thanks to our little friend Caden.  During our breakfast date with him on Sunday, he filled Jake in on the mischievous lives of leprechauns on St. Patrick's Day, and boy, Jake was VERY excited to get a trap set up to prevent the mischief from happening at our house!
sweet walk to breakfast with his wonderful buddy Caden:
When we returned home, we had to make a big trap to lure Mr. Leprechaun in, as Jake absolutely did not want him turning all of his food green for the day!  He came up with the idea of lining up all of his dinobots outside of the backdoor, so that the leprechaun would be too scared to bother coming inside- I had to admire his creative thinking, so I went with that.   When Jake awoke today, he ran downstairs to turn on the lights in the backyard- and he saw that something HAD closed his box leprechaun trap, and that gold coins were littered around the backyard- "WOW- we caught the leprechaun!" was his reaction.  He was honestly scared to death of going outside though, just in case the leprechaun was going to jump out of the trap and pinch him, as he didn't have his green on yet for the day (how he comes up with these things, I don't know!).  So, I had to creep into the dark backyard and poke the box, and flip it over.  He swears that he saw the leprechaun run over the fence into the neighbors yard!  Then he donned head to toe to underwear green for the day, and he couldn't stop talking about how he is ready to build another trap again for next year.   My, my, my...thank you Caden! ha ha!

Rainy day fun

I pulled out the cardboard house that we won two years ago, turned it inside out, and boom- we have some rainy day fun for a good couple of hours.  Had a great weekend!
