Backyard fun

With the sun out, we literally spent nearly the entire of Sunday outside...which felt wonderful!!   The girls had such fun exploring the backyard and Jake has an endless imagination these days, so he is so easily entertained now.

Great Family Time Weekend

With Colbie finally on the mend and the sunshine out, we finally got out of the house for some fun family time this weekend!  Saturday we headed to Coyote Point Park where all of the kids had a great time!

A & C 9 Month Stats

Wow...it has been the longest 4 day week ever!   Poor Colbie's cold evolved into a double ear infection (which we have never dealt with before as Jake has never had one), so ZERO sleep has been possible for anyone in this house for nearly 4 days straight now.   Thankfully today we started to see some smiles and energy back from Colbie, although Addison now seems to have something upsetting her (they are both getting new teeth breaking through right now as well).  Anyway, we finally made it to the Dr. for their regular 9 month checkup on Friday, and below are their stats:

Colbie:
Weight: 17lbs, 12.5oz (she hasn't eaten much in 3 days, so we're pretty sure that she lost quite a bit of weight right before this appointment)- this puts her in the 28th percentile for her age
Height: 27.75 inches - 53rd percentile
Head: 44cm - 49th percentile

Addison:
Weight: 17lbs, 12 oz- 28th percentile (we can't believe that they weigh nearly the same now!)
Height: 27 inches (crazy that Colbie sprung ahead of her again by nearly an inch)- 28th percentile
Head: 43.9cm- 46th percentile

Opposite Crawlers

I've realized today as I was chasing after the girls, that they both crawl mostly on one knee- but oddly enough, Colbie favors her right while Addy favors her left.   Just an interesting note to watch as they grow up- identical twins, but opposite in so many ways!

Here is the normal scene now every night- the kids now play in the kitchen under my feet as I cook dinner....very hard when there are three of them on the ground!!

Go 49ers!!

Josh's very good friend Reed Moulds braved our crazy home to watch the 49er game with Josh today.   Needless to say, they were very happy with the outcome of the game!!

A & C are 9 Months Old!

Yep, today marks the 9 month birthday of Addison and Colbie.  It has been quite a month of development for them, and they are getting to be so much fun!  We don't go to the Dr. until next week, but here are a few things to note for month 9 (and I'll get a cuter picture too!):
 Colbie:
 - Says Mama, Dada, Yaya (our Nanny), Ada (for Addison I think?), something very much like Jake
 - She is crawling, pulling up, trying to climb over something, ALWAYS
 - Loves to eat, although seems to be the pickier eater of the two- her favs now are peaches, cheerios, avocados, sweet potatoes and bananas
 - She is starting to learn to wave hello and goodbye
 - She has NO fear

Addison:
 - Says Mama, Dada, YaYa (our Nanny), and whole lots of other noises
 - Is officially crawling, and nearly keeping up with her very fast sister
 - Still seems to be the more gentle and sensitive sister
 - Still loves to watch who and what are near her first, before deciding if she wants to get involved
 - Appears like she is going to be a great eater- she tries everything, and rarely doesn't like a new food.  Her new favorites are: bananas, avocados, tofu, mangoes, pears, pumpkin, cheerios

Random Pic of the Day

Random Picture of the Day:  Jake and I have a lot of fun at bath time every night.  We find different non-bath tub toys to bring in nightly.  Here he tried on the straw glasses, and it turned into bubble blowing hysteria for a good 30 minutes....

Evening Off!

Last night I joined the San Carlos Mother's Group for their "Mom's Night Out- Cupcake Decorating Class".  It was actually really fun meeting some new people, decorating cupcakes, and just having kind of a mental break of work and kids.  I've got ideas for all of the kid's upcoming birthday parties now, that's for sure!!    Time to start planning!

LEGOS!

Jake has loved building and playing with Legos for years now.  But until now, he really has only been given the little kid, larger sized ones (duplos I think they are called).  For Christmas, the Zimmerman family gifted Jake his first REAL Lego kit, and he immediately sat down with me, followed all of the visual directions, and put all 52 pieces together into a tow truck.  I was amazed, and he was so proud of himself too.  So, last weekend, Jake and I went to this Lego display at a little museum in Palo Alto (thanks to Grandma Lee Lee's recommendation).  The display itself was amazing, but behind glass, and therefore unplayable/untouchable, so Jake wasn't super into it.  But, at the exit of the museum, of course, they had more real Lego kits for sale.  So, we took home one that was for 6-12 year olds (the youngest kit they had), and hoped we could figure it out.  Josh sat down with Jake and patiently worked for an hour with him on this dump truck set, and Jake is even more proud of himself now.   Now...our only struggle is to keep the teeny, tiny Lego pieces out of the mouths of two crawling babies...yikes!!!! I think we'll wait many more months until any more Legos come into this house just to be safe, but I already foresee his bedroom in a few years covered in Legos!!

Lego display at the museum- some 100,000+ legos to build this 20ft x15ft little city:

More birthday pics

Being on a Monday, Josh's actual birthday day wasn't super eventful.  So Sunday, prior to dinner out with the family, Josh had the entire day off of father duties- I got him a massage, and he had a long workout, shopping time, new phone time, etc.   Monday was just a mini celebration with our little family, and then a quick dinner out.   I'm happy to say that I've trained Jake right- he is VERY excited about all birthdays these days.  So, he helped me decorate (made his own sign and all!), opened all of the gifts for Josh, as well as the cards, and got the to help blow out the candle.  The girls were excited to watch the chaos.   So, one big last Happy Birthday to Josh!!!!

Happy Birthday Papa!!

We love you so much Papa.  Happy Birthday!!  We appreciate all that you do for us!  You're a wonderful father and husband.   Cheers to a great new year!!.

We celebrated with family at Josh's old favorite Fiesta Del Mar last night.  The girls sat in big girl highchairs for the first time, and behaved well right up until the end.  Jake does great now nearly everywhere (I love 3 year olds...such fun!!).   Many thanks to Lee, Bill, Mom, Dad, Lindsay, Jonathan and Emma for coming out to celebrate.

A & C meet Jeremy Reseburg

Our good friends John and Cyndi have recently moved out of SF, finally joining us in the burbs.  Their son Jeremy is about 7 weeks younger than Addison and Colbie, and the three hadn't ever met before.  It was such fun to finally have the Reseburg's over for brunch and baby playtime.   Jeremy was just an absolute, smiley doll, with gorgeous big blue eyes!  We can't wait to have more play dates soon, now that they are super close to us.
love this sequence: Jeremy has Addison in a headlock, but only to give her kisses on the back of the head!!
