How in the world can our little ladies be NINE years old today!!!
These two unique loves are even closer than ever after this past year, truly the best of friends. We can't wait to celebrate with them today, after our wonderful extended family celebration yesterday.
More to come!
Yesterday we had a mellow celebration in our backyard with the grandparents and Tia Lindsay/Jonathan & Duke. It was a goregous afternoon, and it worked out perfect. The girls were completely spoiled and received incredibly generous gifts which they promptly opened and played with all evening.
( we missed a picture with Nana before we headed out to a play with girlfriends)
Post edit: Final birthday fun:
Phew- what a day it was! Colbie and Addy could barely sleep, as they were so excited to be able to celebrate with their friends for their birthday this year. They went to bed late, and woke up before 6am, just flying high with birthday adrenaline. Josh had picked up donuts for their special day, and they opened a slim few of their gifts before Jake had to head off to school. Their special surprise were these bean bag chairs (their #1 ask was a bunk bed, but there simply is not room for one in their room). They have outgrown the little Anywhere Chairs from PB that they have had in their room since maybe 2 years old (they will fit Bina and Leila perfectly when they come this summer at Nana's house). My plan was to replace the chairs with these bean bags, but the large doll stuff seems to now be taking over their room, so these chairs will likely remain in the front room downstairs and then be moved to the garage as hang out chairs once it is completed.

The girls did very little of the asynchronous work assigned to them in the morning, as kind of a birthday break, and instead got to play with many of their new gifts that they received on Sunday. Their teacher put this cute sign on the bitmoji classroom for the day:

The girls and I went to school for the early afternoon, where they received many Happy Birthday wishes of course, and then it was off to the party! It has worked out well that nearly all of the best, BEST friends are in their cohort, essentially becoming our little pod. So, the girls decided to have a little party with just their 4 best friends- chosing a private watch party at the movies as their special fun. It's really quite a deal that the movie theaters are making now- for $99, you can have an entire small theater room to yourself with up to 20 friends. So with just 9 of us, it was strange but fun, with the girls able to talk loudly, move around the theather and try different seats, and eat all of the theather treats they could imagine.

One Mom decided to join me, as did Jake, so we tried to stay out of the way of the girls having fun, and I think that everyone genuinely enjoyed the party. We came home to a sushi dinner (the girls' pick), but really ran out of room for the enormous banana split dessert that they girls had planned on. So, we had our final birthday song celebration to a bowl of ice cream and opened all of the presents before we all crashed hard after quite a day. Both girls rated their birthday a 10 out of 10 which is all I could ask for. Happy Birthday sweet girls!!!!
Oh, and of course we were able to chat with Tia and Hassan in the morning too. Tia made these incredible pop up cards and foldable things and sent them from Morocco and they arrived in time. Incredible, and thank you!
Oh, and to save as a reminder, I had these personalized M&Ms made for the birthday this year. It was pretty fun to see their faces on candy as a special thank you for those who joined them in celebrating the big NINE this year. Thank you all for the generous gifts and for helping us celebrate Addy & Colbie!
