First Day of School!

Today's the day- Addy and Colbie start KINDERGARTEN and Jake takes on 3rd grade.   The kids all had their clothes laid out the night before, showered and went to bed relatively on time for a first.   Jake woke up early and literally jumped into his clothes, incredibly excited to be back to school.  He volunteered for safety patrol this year, and he was assigned this very first week of school.  Josh took him over to school early and he got to raise the american flag up the flag pole for the first time, on the very first day!   The girls were moving a little slower, taking their time getting dressed even though it  was all laid out.  As we finally had our teeth brushed and hair brushed, we headed to the door to put on our shoes.   Well...Colbie opened the box of her brand new shoes and tried to put them on and we discovered we came home with two right shoes...ahhhh!   As you can imagine, this was very upsetting, and the anxiety that was hidden so well all morning came out.   Sweet Addy took the brand new shoes off of her feet and gave them to Colbie to make her feel better...amazing!   So, we got in the car late, and then we got in the back to school traffic for the middle school around our block.  So, we were LATE the first day of kindergarten!    The entire class was already there and taking class pictures outside of the classroom when we ran up- another AHHHHH.    Well, anyways, the girls gave me a quick hug and kiss and held hands and quite without hesitation followed the other kids into the classroom.   It's a miracle.   I felt absolutely horribly for hours, as I know that my girls need that time to observe, get adjusted to things and relax before big transitions.   But somehow, the anticipation of today overshadowed the anxiety and it all worked out.    PHEWWWWWWWWW
