6 Year Anniversary!

Thanks to Lee and Bill for babysitting while we had a celebration dinner, and thanks to Mike and Val for the gift card at Christmas! 

The day was very mellow and family fun filled.  Jakey and I painted outside to keep cool, and he made this perfectly appropriate picture for Josh and I today:

Happy Birthday Grandpa Bill!

We've just returned from a great celebration for Grandpa Bill!  Somehow the girls stayed awake and somewhat well behaved through the entire evening.   The highlight was after dinner, we just went outside and sat on their big lawn and watched the kids run and run and run.  This weather is ridiculous during the day, but by evening time, outside playtime is perfect!

Dr. Seuss Party

We were off to another birthday party today for some friends of ours who we've met while living here.  They have a 5 year old son, and twin 1 years old, so we live somewhat parallel lives.  On top of that, our nannies love each other, and the twins have play dates together several times a week.  So, essentially little Luke and Sylvie are Colbie and Addison's first friends!

 Isn't this cake amazing!  I was in complete awe.....And how cute is the below- she had the kids plant little Seuss trees!!  It was so perfectly timed, as Jake and I had just seen the Lorax the night before, which is entirely about these trees!

 

 

Movie Night at the Park

Friday night movie nights have started in our fun little town, so Jake and I headed over after we put the girls to sleep last night.  The feature movie was The Lorax, which was perfect.  Our friends Caden and Kelly joined us for a short while at the beginning too, which was super fun.  After they left, Jake insisted on staying for a bit longer...which turned into a full hour.  It was WAYYY past his bedtime by the time we walked home, but it was a fun special night for Jakey and I.

We had a little picnic celebration with Granddad- very hectic and the kids didn't all sit down together once, but it was still nice.

Birthday Fun Day

More birthday fun this weekend, as we celebrating Jeremy Reseburg's 1st birthday and Caden's 5th birthday.  Phew...everyone is exhausted after back to back parties!
Jeremy's party was at a park that Josh grew up near and was fun as there were so many little kids for our kids to play with. There was even a set of 13 month old twin boys, wearing little ties- so cute to see the four of them together!

4 Year Check Up

It was time for Jake's 4 year check up today.  Below are his stats and his favorite things at age 4:

Weight: 32 lbs (22nd percentile)
Height: 37.75 inches (5th percentile)
Eyes, ears and heart are all healthy and good.

When asked what he wants to be when he grows up:  a fireman- so that he can rescue people
Fav colors: Blue and purple
Fav food: pizza, strawberries, carrots, chocolate ice cream
Fav toys/characters: superheros (superman is #1 at the moment), octonauts, legos, Cars characters
Fav sayings: "good job guys", "come on guys", "I've got an idea"
Seen doing most on a Saturday at home:  dancing, playing music, driving cars around, chasing after his sisters, "helping" Mom and Dad with whatever chores we're working on, reading books
Trait most often mentioned with his teachers at school:  his tendency to direct/organize/lead/boss this classmates around.  As he is one of the two oldest in his class, the younger kids look to him for ideas of things to do in the room and outside, and he just eats it up and leads them in whatever he feels like doing.
Characteristic that seems to be developing most quickly at the moment:  his imagination!!

Colbie Reads Her Books

Just like Jake, Colbie and Addison love books! I just absolutely love to watch the girls "read" their books aloud.  I finally caught a video of Colbie reading last night...just so darn cute.

Jake Rides a Bike!

For his birthday Josh got Jake a real bike (with training wheels).  Jake hasn't been really interested in riding a bike yet, but it seemed like the right time.  We spent a lot of time this weekend on his new bike though!  It took him a few spills (bloody nose and nice chin rash from hitting the pavement face first poor guy!), but he definitely has the hang of the bike now.  It seems like the training wheels may come off sooner than any of us expected!!
