Ski Week Staycation- SF Getaway

With Jake's next crazy season of soccer and baseball starting this week (games and practices 5-6 days a week), we opted to lay low this past ski week vacation vs. attempt a major getaway (and Josh was in NY for work too).   I did take the kids up to SF for a two day staycation though, as they seem to get a long so much better when we're away from home and staying in a hotel for some bizarre reason.   I found this great hotel last minute right in the Fisherman's Wharf area of the city, which is where I knew it would be easy for us to walk around.   On Day 1 we discovered the Wax Museum, the Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum, the Boudin bread factory and the historic ferry ships in the Bay.   It was a chilly day of walking around, but we all genuinely had a great time.   The kids were also equally excited about the hotel, as it had this super cool courtyard in the center with the largest connect four game we'd ever seen, a circular ping pong table, a table maze and more.  The indoor game room was also fantastic, and Jake and Addison have developed a real skill at playing pool now!

Walking through and then eating at the Boudin bread factory was such fun too...the kids kept going on and on about how it was the best bread in the entire world.  And we even purchased this adorable bread teddy bear and ate him up over our two day trip.
We walked around and through the old Hyde Street Pier Ferry and the kids were amazed with how large it was, and how entire cars could fit inside.  This summer we'll definitely have to take a real ferry somewhere across the Bay (they are voting for Alcatraz).

No trip is complete without a visit to the Ghiradelli Chocolate Factory!

On Day 2, we walked around Pier 39 and then headed over the Golden Gate Bridge.  The kids had never actually walked on the bridge before, so we had to check that off the list.   Then we used our free passes to the Discovery Museum, which was fun, but I think we've officially outgrown sadly.  The end the day we parked ourselves at Crissy Field and played at the beach for hours despite the cold.   These three can never ever have enough beach time.

The rest of the week was mellow home time, movies, gardening, etc.   It was a nice week break and now we're back to school in the rain!
