Reading to himself

There is no longer silence in our home...ever. Whether Jake is talking to us, to his toys or reading his books aloud, the sounds of Jake always fill our house. I came upon him reading to himself yesterday and got it on tape:

Spending too much time with Mama....

Every morning Jake watches me get ready for work, as Josh is long gone. This morning he decided to do this....too funny!

First Family pic in over 6 months!

Jake's school continues to ask for a family picture to put up on their family tree wall. Well...it was so sad to realize that we didn't actually have one that was not over 6 months old! So, before Josh and I headed off to Katie's wedding last night, my Dad finally took some family pictures of us. YEAH...we finally have some with all THREE of us in them!

Pumpkin Patch

we know, we know...it's a little early to be visiting the Pumpkin Patch already, but we love Halloween (well...I do, and I just know that Jake does as well!). So, on our way down to drop Jake off with Nana and Granddad, we stopped by the BEST pumpkin patch in Half Moon Bay. Jake got to play with little bunnies, goats and ponies, as well as run around the pumpkin patch. It was great to see him having fun, especially considering last year he burst in to tear whenever we held up a pumpkin to him!

"Ch-Ch" train

Jake has started to point and say "Ch-Ch" whenever he sees train toys and books. So of course, when we came across this "ch-ch" in the park, Jake had to get in!

More Kites

We convinced Josh to go with us back to the kite festival today, as it was so fun to watch Jake yesterday. This time we actually made a kite, and flew it together. Jake was most interested in holding onto the string, vs. making the kite get up in the air....but that's ok. Another great day.

Family Kite Day in SF

To our surprise, today is "Family Kite Flying Day" here is SF! There was a nice festival down on the Marina Green right around the corner from our home to celebrate the occasion. Now...if you know me REALLY well, you know that I love flying kites. It's weird I know...but it always brings back great memories of flying kites on Kings Mountain or on the beach in HMB when I was little. Anyways, Jake and I had to take a walk down and see what was going on. Well...thank goodness Jake took to kites really fast, and instantly started pointed and yelling "Kite" to all of the fantastic kites flying (there were kites 20 feet long!!!). I'm SO excited to fly kites with Jake soon!

Jake walking his alligator

Auntie Lindsay gave Jake this great alligator for his birthday awhile back and Jake just LOVES it! It is just hysterical watching him "walk his alligator" up and down the hallway.

Finally feeling better

Jakey is finally feeling better....phew. It was a long couple of days, but today he is free of fever...yippeee!! He was actually FULL of energy when we arrived home after work today. We were playing him, trying to teach him to jump....wow...is that entertaining! Folks who has little ones who have just learned to walk, try to teach them to jump! It's absolutely adorable trying to see them get both feet off the floor! Here is Jake in full force, back to normal. yeah!

Date night....interrupted

On Friday Jake came home from daycare with a temperature of 102...yikes! We hadn't seen that before, and poor Jake didn't know what to do with himself. It was a longggg night of sitting near the open window, cool wash clothes, and lots of baby Tylenol. We thought he was doing better on Saturday, so wonderful Tia Linds came into SF and babysat Jake while Josh and I dashed out to a wedding in downtown SF. (Originally we had planned on staying the entire wedding, truly having our first big night out since Jake was born...but the fever got us worried, so we returned home after dinner). Well....Luke's wedding was really special and beautiful, but we're glad that we came home early, as Jake had a temp of 103 by 11pm! After speaking with nurses and much, much more Baby Advil, Jake got to sleep, but once again, has awoke with a crazy high temp today. Poor poor Jake...on the most GORGEOUS weekend in SF, and on the weekend when Mama and Papa were supposed to have their first big night out...of course he gets terribly ill. So is life as a parent....

BIG Thank you to Aunt Lindsay though....we did get out for a few hours, and had a great time at Luke and Marisol's wedding! Thank you Linds!!!

Happy Birthday Granddad!

We wish you a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY Granddad!!!
We hope that you're having a wonderful time on vacation, and can't wait to celebrate upon your return!

Cake!

My group at work is participating in the American Heart Association Heart Walk in SF next week. To raise money, someone came up with the idea of a huge bake sale. Well...of course I got suckered into baking. Although, this time I was asked to decorate a cake. I really haven't ever decorated a cake (besides boring sprinkles type decorations), so I was kind of nervous. Well...I've just spent the evening decorating a cake, and I have to say...it's really fun!! I think I see some fun kid cakes in Jake's near future!!
Here is my sneaker cake:

Fantastic Beach Day in SF!

Yesterday was a GORGEOUS day here in SF. After Josh had to work for a couple of hours in the morning, we walked down to the beach near our home for a little afternoon fun. Well...Jake LOVED the beach, yet again. He raced right down to the water immediately, and promptly covered himself in wet sand. On this beach outing, Jake could not get enough of the dogs. He kept chasing them all around the beach, no matter the size. (He did also chase around another little kid, and when he eventually caught him, he gave him a great BIG hug...very cute, but I think the other Mom was a little weirded out). Jake ran around so much, that he actually took a nap, right on Papa for nearly an hour. This NEVER happens anymore, and it was pure delight for me to sit on the sand and read a book while my boys slept. It was a Fantastic day at the beach!!

dancing

Jake LOVES to dance already!! His version of dancing is more like stomping, and turning in circles, but it is still very funny to watch. We caught this one on video this weekend. (Beware of our bad singing voices though, as well as the horrendous mess that is our living room!!)

15 Month Stats

Jake turns 15 months old tomorrow...wow.
Here are the latest stats from his Doctors appointment this past week.
Head: 50cm (as they kindly put it "well over the 97% percentile"....)
Height: 31 inches (50% percentile)
Weight: 22lbs, 13oz (25% percentile)

Our little bobble head continues to grow in the same proportions as his last appointment. (Although, I did once again get asked if my head was on the larger side, just to verify that Jake's really is hereditary. I knew mine was large growing up, but I'm going to start to get a complex about this if I have to reiterate that my head IS in the 98% of females, at every single appointment!).

Team Canada

Since we've actually launched our website at work, we now finally have a few minutes to celebrate from time to time. Last week we had fun wearing some of our "Canada Pride" clothing samples around the office. This is little "Team Canada":

Jake and Clara

While at the race on Sunday, we ran into our friends the Kochs! Greg worked with Josh and I at Intel, and his adorable wife Lyndsay and his kids Xavier and Clara were out cheering Papa on.
Well, Jake was VERY interested in little miss Clara (who is a few months younger). He kept giving her hugs and touching her face! It was very sweet....but we're going to have to watch this boy around the ladies!!!
Great to see you Kochs, and hope to see you soon!
