4 Month Stats for A and C

We went to the Dr. today for Addison and Colbie's 4 month checkup/shots.  Why I continue to go to such appointment alone, I'm not sure.  All of the people there give me such sympathetic looks as I try to juggle two seriously traumatized babies after each shot visit...oh well.  The girls really did pretty well considering.  Here were their smiling faces this morning, pre-shots:
                                              Colbie                                          Addison

At four months old, the girls are actually very much equalizing out in size...nearly identical in all metrics!!
Height:  both 24.75 inches (62nd percentile for their age)
Head: both 40.5cm (29th percentile)
Weight:  Addison- 14lb, 6oz (60th percentile) and Colbie- 14lbs, 3oz  (55th percentile)

I can't find Jakey stats at the moment, but I'm pretty sure he was kind of the opposite of these girls, with a head in the highest percentile of size, and body weight much lower.  When I find them it will be interesting to compare!

Spiderman has arrived at our house!

For the first time ever, Jake actually WANTS to wear a costume around the house.  We found a mask and a spider web maker thing that he went nuts for, so now every time I turn around, I'm looking at a little masked man behind me.  I'm just excited that he is actually enjoying costumes, as they were so much fun for my sister and I when we were growing up!  I'm crossing my fingers that Halloween is going to go better this year!

We Love Burton Park!

We feel so lucky to be living so close to such an amazing park!  Burton Park is right near our home, and it's just amazing.  It's got great play structures for the kids, a water play area for the hot days and often fun stuff in the evenings.  Friday night Josh and Jakey headed down there for a movie night in the park.  Jake was VERY excited about all of the popcorn, people and movie.  We tend to go there after school most days now, as well as most days on the weekends.  Jake has found the water play area and very much enjoys it.  Somehow I never remember to put him in his swimming clothes though, so he ends up in his diaper running through the water as he doesn't like wearing sopping wet clothes (who does, right?).  Anyways, many more fun memories to be had at this park!!

We've got TWO rollers!

Four days after Addy, Colbie has begun to roll over as well.  I thought it was going to take much longer, but it certainly didn't.  Now much of my day is simply laying on the floor with the girls and turning them back over so that they can re-roll over again (they roll from back to front, but can't roll back the other way yet).  Night time is also tough now, as they roll over in their cribs and try to smother themselves in their mattresses...yikes!!!  So, we've been doing a lot of sleeping in their nursery again to help them turn back over.  We're hoping that they learn to roll back over soon, as this is a little crazy!!!!

Nana's Birthday Party

Both sets of parents came over for dinner last night to celebrate my Mom's birthday.  Things were a bit hurried, as we're really trying to stick to a schedule with these kids these days.  We did get to have a nice meal together and open a few gifts before some major meltdowns occurred though.   Poor Josh came straight from the airport, so he was a bit tired as well.  Colbie and Addison wore their first tutus to the party (thanks again to Valerie T and Susan F for the adorable skirts that finally fit them, yeah!).   Sorry for the hurried finish to the evening Mom, but Happy Birthday again!!!

Happy Birthday to Nana!!

We just wanted to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY NANA!!!  We hope that you're going to have a wonderful, relaxing day. We look forward to celebrating over dinner this evening. We love you!

Baby Giggles are the BEST!

Oh man, Colbie and Addison have started really giggling now, and it's just the best sound in the whole world.  When you get them both going at the same time, it's just hysterical.  Here Josh caught them in especially silly moods!

Addison Rose is rolling over!

One day before her 4 month birthday, Addison Rose has begun to roll over!!  She has been trying for a good month, but she has finally made it over multiple times in a row, surprising us and herself each time.  Colbie isn't quite interested or ready yet, interesting, huh?  Looking back, it looks like Jakey rolled over exactly 1 week after he hit 4 months old.

A & C are 4 Months Old!

We absolutely can't believe how fast 4 months has flown by.   The Girls feel like they are so big already, and developing little personalities now.  We don't have our 4 month check up for another week, so we don't have their stats yet, but here are some pictures and some observations so far about Addison and Colbie at 4 months old.
Here they are together at 4 months old (Colbie on the left, Addy on the right):
Colbie is a great night sleeper, although during the day she much prefers to be held and played with all day long.  She generally is really happy/smiley, or quite upset (when she is hungry, watch out!).  Basically, she seems like she got the excitable gene that I also gave to Jakey.  She has rolled over once, chats quite a bit, and has an adorable giggle.  She has the BIG chubby cheeks that are her most differentiating feature from her sister.

Addison already seems to be Ms. Independent at 4 months old.  She will lay on her play mats or tunnels for a good hour, totally entertaining herself talking to the pictures and hanging objects.  She is very chatty still and currently seems more mild tempered compared to Colbie.  I continue to say that she seems to have the "big sister" attitude towards her sister, but we'll see how things work out.  Addy is NOT such a great sleeper, with endless whining throughout the night when she loses her pacifier.  She does take some nice naps during the day though!!  Addy has just begun to roll over (more on that tomorrow), which is new and very exciting!!!

To compare, here was Jakey at four months old:  I definitely see similarities!

Family Hugs

We're all about endless hugs in our family.  Here I captured Colbie in the middle of a Papa/Jakey hug sandwich.  Love what a mess our home looks like in the background!!

Arts & Crafts Time!

Finally Jake is showing some interest in coloring, painting, stickers, etc.   As most of you know, I love that kind of stuff, and I've got piles and piles of supplies just waiting for Jakey when he is ready.  Yesterday I picked up some watercolor kits, and suggested that Jake give them a try.  He loved it!!  He sat for a good hour painting endless pages (most of which were "monsters") with Grandma Lee Lee and Tia Erica.  YEAH!!!  Can't wait to come up with something fun to do next!

Swim Time

Jake is finally starting to really enjoy being in a swimming pool.  He still spends most of his time on the steps, but Josh can get him into the pool for a bit now as well.  We now try to get some pool time in every weekend:

Our Mr. Fix-It Man

My friend Lanae and her amazingly talented husband, Mitz, came over on Saturday to help us with some house stuff that we wanted to get done while I'm still on maternity leave.  Mitz was nice enough to loan Jake some REAL tools to play with, and he was literally in heaven.  He didn't stop playing Mr. Fix-it man all day long, and the fun has continued all through today as well.  Here he is in all of his gear:
