Mr. Imagination
Mr Jake is all about building things out of stuff around the house these days- generally they are very elaborate and take many days to complete- and of course, take up a large amount of space too! As he is studying space at school currently, he is rather obsessed with the subject, and therefore decided that he needed to build a rocket ship this weekend. The cutest part- to make it white, he covered the outside with his love notes, so the whole ship screams "Jake loves Mama, Jake loves Dada, Jake loves Colbie and Jake loves Addy". Here it is- in all of it's glory:
now use you imagination!
We hauled the whole thing in our little office so that the kids could show Tia Erica via Skype too:

First Science Fair Project
At four old, Jake had his first "science fair project" due this week. They are studying space, so it had to be something related to planets, space, astronauts, etc. He and I went and picked out a book about space from the library, and after ready about every planet, Jake decided that he wanted to make an Earth and a Moon. Here is the final product:

Love Notes
Now that Jake is getting more and more comfortable writing, he will leave us all little love notes and pictures throughout the house. Last night he was really excited to make some for his sisters and leave them on their cribs...just melts our hearts how much he loves Colbie and Addy!

Hometown Days!
It was another great year for the Hometown Days weekend in our neighborhood. The parade was your typical odd and funny little town parade where 3/4 of the folks are actually in the parade while 1/4 of us cheered them on. The bouncy house and petting zoo were big hits for the kids throughout the day. Today was especially fun as the whole family went on the fun run- Josh took the girls on the 10k run and I took Jake on his first 5k race. Jake and I ran with our friends Caden and Kelly, and the boys were really cute together. They would get a burst of energy and sprint a few blocks and then poop out for a block- on and on for 3 miles. They were both exhausted. I was really proud of Jake though, and he genuinely had a good time and wants to do it every year now!

Happy Mother's Day!
First off, a late, but not too late Happy Mother's Day to our wonderful Moms. And a Happy Mother's Day to all of our wonderful friends, aunts, cousins, etc- we hope that you had a wonderful day!
My day has been great, but my real gift has been Josh being home for two weeks before he starts his new job tomorrow. It has been wonderful to have his extra set of hands to help in the mornings and evenings and just to watch the kids enjoy him being home and not stressed out. He has been so relaxed and happy, and so has the entire house.
But my day today started with Jake waking up Josh at 6am asking if Josh could help him make me a fruit salad. Jake has never made me a real meal before, so it was just incredibly sweet, and yummy too. Then we headed to the beach to celebrate with Nana and Grandma Lee Lee. The weather was perfect for the first 60 minutes, but unfortunately, a chilly wind picked up and kind of ruined things- sand in the eyes, sand in the food, freezing cold wets kids, etc. So, we packed up early and headed back home. The afternoon was all outside park and playtime for us. And then we waved Josh off to catch his flight for orientation at his new job this week. The kids and I had a great dinner and opened some gifts and everyone pooped out early as my last gift!

Beach Day!
We decided to head over to the beach today and wow- I'd forgotten what pure and complete joy a simple beach can bring to our kids! We had three straight hours of endless laughter and smiles! I think we'll be spending much of the summer at the beach this year, and perhaps even an idea for Mother's Day!
