Memorial Day

I'm behind yet again with my blogging...

As of this month, I'm officially on the Board of the twin parenting group we've been apart of now for four years.  As this is probably the last year that we'll be especially active, and this is a volunteer lead organization, I figured it was time to give back a bit.  So I'm now in charge of the Social Groups and Events for this year...fun right?  I've organized two events this past week- one at the SPCA for a tour and talk about pet adoption and a second play event at this amazing indoor playhouse near us.  They both were fun thank goodness, and I've met so many new fellow moms of twins!

For part of Memorial Day Weekend, I flew to AZ to celebrate a good friend of mine who is due with twins in a few short months.  It was a pretty big deal to leave Josh with all three kids on his own for a day and a half, but everyone did great thank goodness.   I had such a wonderful time hanging out with my old friends from my Intel days, without any kids around.  Of course on the way over I was seated next to the lady with the hysterical baby and loud 2 year old, but the flight home was peaceful and quiet.   My friend Lindsay's sisters put on a truly gorgeous baby shower at a fantastic venue with delicious food and cute crafts for us all to make.  I can't wait to meet Baby Harper and Baby Jaxton in August!
Monday was a wonderful family day spent at the beach.  The first two hours were quite chilly, but the sun came out, and we had to drag the kids away after nearly five hours of play time!   We'll be spending a LOT of time at the beach this summer!

Rodeo, Art, Books and More

I'm way behind on the blog again.  So, to catch up:
I chaperoned Jake's field trip to the Rowell Ranch Rodeo today.  His teacher has some close connections with this rodeo, so six classes from his school attended with us!  We sat and watched lassoing of the bulls, barrel riding races and had a long talk about how to Cowboy Up in our day to day lives.  I kept trying to explain to Jake that these cowboys are his heritage on his Nana's side, and I promised I'd show him pictures of his Nana and great-grandpa Martin on their horses.

We also had Open House Night at school this week.  Jake was so proud to show us, especially C & A, all of the work he has been doing in class.  He insisted on showing Addy and Colbie every corner of the room which was so sweet.

Colbie, Addy and I went to a reading by the fantastic children's book author and illustrator Todd Parr yesterday.  He just came out with a great new book, and along with reading much of his work, he drew fun illustrations for the kids.

With this heat wave, we had to head to the pool a couple of times after school pick up just to cool down.  The kids are eager to get practicing with their swimming too.

This week Jake's class also put on a play that they wrote and performed for the parents.  The PTA sponsored a theater teacher for the 1st graders for 6 weeks, and Jake really loved it.  He was one of the five kids in the class who came up with the concept of their play, and he knew every line by heart.  It was titled "The Inventor and the Martians".  Jake was a martian.

The parents of our school run this amazing art program called Art in Action, and I've been helping out this year.  It has been such fun getting to know the kids, as well as learning more about how to teach art.   Last Friday we had a lesson on Jackson Pollock- messy, messy, messy!

Phew, that's all for now!

Great Day

It's been a wonderful, mellow Mother's Day today!   I woke up to three very excited kids, especially Colbie who really, REALLY wanted to make me carrot cake for breakfast for some bizarre reason.   While I went to my morning workout class, Josh took the kids down to see Grandma Lee Lee, so I was able to return home for a few moments of peace and quiet.  The noisy crew arrived home in time for us to make it to a late brunch where they all behaved very patiently for this busy day, and we could enjoy a yummy meal (brunch will always be my favorite!).  We spent the afternoon together at home, playing in our jumpy house, playing basketball, and just hanging out.  The squabbles were tamer than usual today I would say, and all three kids could not keep wishing me a Happy Mother's Day, and filled my cheeks with kisses and my ears with I Love Yous all day long.  It was a great day!  Thanks Josh for covering the laundry and dishes for the day today too, LOL!

The decor and decorated cookie cake the kids made for me:

The sweet note I found in my pocket.
 The gifts from school...too cute!

Happy Mother's Day!

We are wishing our Moms Eileen and Lee a wonderful Happy Mother's Day today, as well as our friends and family.   We hope that you are having a wonderful, relaxing day!
We Love You!

Catch Up

I'm way behind...here are few highlights of the last few weeks:

Colbie and Addy had their 4 year check-ups.  They are both 39.25 inches tall (38th percentile for their age) and weigh 31 pounds (18th percentile).    At Jake's four year check-up he was 32 pounds (very similar) but only 37.5 inches tall, so at this point, they are outpacing our Jakey.   Here are the girls with some of their favorite things at 4 years old:
Colbie Eileen:

 Addy Rose:

It was Teacher Appreciation Week at our preschool, so the girls and I made special cookies for the teachers as we were assigned sweet treats.   It was a perfect project for a Tuesday morning for us:

Jake has insisted on washing the dishes after dinner now- I'm pretty sure that his sudden interest in chores is thanks to Boy Scouts, so thanks Boy Scouts!

The girls have been all about dressing up and "putting on a show".  They never actually get to the show, as they spend so much time prepping and introducing themselves, but it's awfully cute to watch!

Caught this one on Jake's homework last week- just the sweetest boy ever!

Jake had another great baseball game today.  Here he is with some of this favorite teammates:
